.Success in entrepreneurship is never about resting in your laurels. Instead, success comes from continuously improving and pursuing excellence, while keeping customers happy and ensuring that the business is one step ahead of competitors.
David Novak, Chairman and CEO of Yum! Brands that owns successful fastfood chains such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Long John Silver, understands the need to always go for greatness. He wrote in his book “The Education of an Accidental CEO”:
We’d definitely come a long way, but there is still a long way to go, and the two things that were talked about again and again in terms of what we still need to work on were customer mania and execution. I made this point in my speech: “We may think we’re doing great, but our customers still don’t think we’re great everywhere, and we’ll never truly be great until they do.”
Our way forward is not to come up with some new program to make this happen but, as I said earlier, to really get serious about doing a better job executing the programs we already have in place.
